Prayer and Healing
Prayer at Bourne abbey is offered through daily prayer, Sunday intercession, and through the regular meetings of the Julian Group with their silent contemplative approach to prayer. Petitions of prayer can take the form of requests on the pew sheet and also requests placed on the prayer board found at the back of the church – all of which are offered as appropriate in the acts of worship taking place at the Abbey.
For more about healing, please see the Sacraments section, with particular reference to Communion of the Sick, Unction, and Reconciliation.
We also wish to offer God’s healing love mediated through Healing Services.
Additionally, the ministry of Deliverance must also be seen to play its part in assisting those who are troubled by phenomena that cannot be easily explained, and which sometimes is the result of spiritual disease and the need to heal the memory.
Julian Prayer Meeting
We meet twice a month: on the first Monday of each month and on the third Thursday. Those who attend are able to enjoy a time of silence together.
Our meeting is an opportunity to concentrate for a while on that deeper part of ourselves which begins to open up when we come away from the busyness of life in order to just “be” in God’s presence.
It is not an “empty” time. It is a time of being replenished. A time to discover what can only be discovered when we are truly still. This is a time of finding peace, of feeling close to God, of being refreshed.
The meeting begins and closes with music and a reflection – with a cup of tea or coffee and a chat when we have finished.
